A medical expert is concerned the sport of cage fighting is sending mixed messages about violence to youngsters.
Also known as mixed martial arts, it is growing in popularity across the UK. But Tony Calland, chairman of the British Medical Association in Wales, says its brutality poses "a serious question for us as a society".
If you want to read more you look at the news feed, RSS... So, my Question to you who take part, either by, watching, training, promoting or fighting is.... Should he be concerned? and if so, what is the solution? Let me hear you rant!!!

- I don't really think they have a point to be honest, just another thing to blame the rising violence in youth nowadays, the government will try to blame it on anything except themselves. Think about it, boxing used to be way bigger than it is now but did it lead to rise in violent behaviour? No.
P.S. Someone please reply to my Training thread in the Training Forum! - I think that in many ways MMA is safer than other contact sports.
The fact that there are no 8 counts is a massive safety factor over other contact sports. As soon as a fighter is in trouble the fight is stopped rather than an eight count being given and further punishment inflicted. If the fight ends on the floor it is usually by submission which prevents serious injury.
